A Morden coffee shop has announced its closure, much to the sorrow of its regulars.

Tariro has been in Crown Lane for the past 16 years, but this coming Friday will be the last time it opens.

This was disappointing news for customer Joshna Thakrar who explained her love-affair with the shop.

"Great ambience, staff very attentive and the environment is really relaxed," she told the Wimbledon Times.

"I fell in love with Tariro and its staff the first time I popped in 16 years ago.

"You can come and read papers or do some work, or catch up with the friends, family and neighbours."

Wimbledon Times:

On the outside of the shop, a message stands, counting down the days to the departure.

But on the inside reads a heartfelt message posted by the shop's founder and owner Caroline Katiyo

"Thank you so much for your custom, your loyalty, your conversation, your community," it read.

"We have loved being here.

"As the founder and owner of Tariro it is time for me to move on to new adventures ahead.

"Events over the past year have taught me that everyday is a blessing and it is important to spend time with those we love, to enjoy life and maintain a healthy work life balance, and to appreciate all that is around us."

Wimbledon Times:

With a day of celebration now scheduled for July 26, Joshna will no doubt be one of many down to enjoy the festivities one last time.

"I will miss my daily coffee and my interactions with the staff and local community," she said.

"It’s sad but I understand Caroline’s reasons to want to say goodbye.

"Caroline and her team have served the people of Morden and Merton for the past 16 years.

"They will be missed. There is no other coffee shop in Morden that can replace this."
