A climate change activist group is planning to protest in the Richmond Borough to mourn extinct species.
Extinction Rebellion Richmond are planning a protest at 12pm on July 20, in order to continue to urge the government to treat climate change as an emergency.
The protestors will create a ‘mock funeral’ to demonstrate their sorrow surrounding the death of all plant species that have been made extinct through the ignorant actions of companies and people who have failed in their duty to protect wildlife in pursuit of profit or mis-guided development.
The funeral procession will start at noon outside Barclays Bank 22, George Street.
According to the protest group Barclays bank has been a long-time supporter of carbon heavy industry – which has resulted in the bank’s need to actively increase the threat of extinction.
From Barclays the cortege will move, at a respectful pace, down the High Street making its way to Kew Gardens.
