Portsmouth's Kenny Jackett gave no guarantees they will keep hold of Millwall target Jamal Lowe despite wanting him to remain at Fratton Park.

Two clubs, thought to be the Lions and Wigan have reportedly seen bids for the 24-year-old rejected this summer as Pompey look to retain one of their star performers.

Lowe has impressed on the south coast in League One the last two seasons and it's thought he's open to a move higher up the divisions, although no transfer request has been submitted yet.

Jackett insisted he was keen to keep hold of Lowe but that having been around the game long enough he knows how football works

News Shopper:

'We'll see'

"I would like to keep Jamal," he told Portsmouth News.

"As usual with Portsmouth there’s a high level of speculation when not much has happened behind the scenes.

"We’re only just into July and the Championship window is August 8 with League One and League Two September 2.

"That’s where it is.

"Jamal is not someone I want to lose and the bids have been turned down so far.

"What will happen now, we’ll see, but it will be great to keep him and build on it.

"Players do move on, but I would like to keep Jamal - 100 per cent."

It's thought Millwall saw a bid of £1.5million turned down with Pompey looking to get closer to double that before they start any negotiations.

Neil Harris is keen to add to his squad after seeing Lee Gregory and Steve Morison both depart The Den this summer, only adding Matt Smith in the attacking ranks.

Lowe scored 15 league goals last season as Pompey made the semi-final play-offs and it's thought a host of clubs including Millwall, Cardiff City, Middlesbrough and Leeds are interested in the former Hampton & Richmond Borough man.
