Swimmers from The Mall School in Twickenham are celebrating a number of successes in regional and national competitions.

At the finals of the London Swimming Championships in Dulwich on 5 June, Beau Hanson (Year 5) won the 25m butterfly event with Luke Ross (Year 5) taking 3rd place in the 25m backstroke.

George Flatman (Year 6) took 5th place in the 25m freestyle with two other Year 6 boys taking 6th place in their races, Zach Luttig in the individual medley and Maneet Bedi in the 25m backstroke.

Ten boys travelled to the London Aquatics Centre, the venue for the London 2012 Olympic swimming events, to join 1500 competitors at the IAPS National Prep Schools finals on Saturday 8 June.

In the relays, the U10 freestyle relay team (Luke Ross, Beau Hanson, Xavier Ali Cubi and Daniel Young) were placed 2nd place in their event, an impressive achievement as they were up against some much larger schools.

The U13 freestyle relay team just missed the podium, finishing in a very creditable 4th place. The U13 medley relay team achieved 10th position, improving on their 15th place in qualifying and swimming 7 seconds quicker.

In the individual events, many of the boys put in quicker times than in initial qualifying and Beau Hanson (Year 5) and Thomas Porter (Year 8) qualified for their finals.

Thomas swam a personal best and was placed 6th in the U13 50m freestyle final and Beau Hanson came 2nd in the U10 25m freestyle, a fantastic result coming at the end of a very long day of swimming.
