Rail passengers on some of the busiest routes in the country suffered a second successive day of disruption on Wednesday because of another problem.

South Western Railway (SWR) services to and from London Waterloo were affected because of a problem with a track circuit maintained by Network Rail at Wimbledon.

Passengers were told that some lines were blocked.

Train services running through Wimbledon were affected, with disruption expected until 1pm.

Some trains leaving London Waterloo were unable to call at Clapham Junction, Earlsfield or Wimbledon, said SWR.

SWR services into Waterloo were also disrupted on Tuesday.

Trains to and from London Paddington were also disrupted on Tuesday.
