The forthcoming Safeguarding Children Partnership in Kingston and Richmond are running a competition to design their new logo.

The competition is now open to all young people (aged 18 and below) and comes ahead of the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) becoming a new joint body under the title Richmond and Kingston Safeguarding Children Partnership in September later this year.

The competition is running until the final deadline for entries at 5pm on Friday, May 24.

Six finalists will be invited to a reception at the Mayor's parlour in Kingston to meet the Mayors of Richmond and Kingston on Tuesday, June 4 at 4.30pm, timed to coincide with Child Safety Week.

Speaking to the Surrey Comet, Schools Coordinator for the current LSCB, Lucy MacArthur, said that organisers hoped the competition would encourage engagement with younger people about staying safe in the community.

"We want to get children to participate in creating our logo. One of our priorities is to engage with young people and in a sense we want to give them some ownership of the organisation that is concerned with their safeguarding.

"There are going to be six finalists and the competition is still open—we haven't chosen them yet but we've already had many entries are they're looking really good," Ms MacArthur said.

The winner will be announced from the six finalists at Kingston Guildhall on Tuesday, June 4.

If you are aged 18 or below and want to take part in the competition, just send a photo of your design by 5pm Friday May 24, by email with your name, age, and school to: lucy.macarthur@kingrichlscb.org.uk
