A woman in her 60s and a teenage girl suffered facial injuries after they were doused with a "noxious substance" in broad daylight on a Thornton Heath street this morning.
Police were called to the scene at 11.44am to County Road at the junction with Norbury Avenue.
The victims were rushed to hospital, as fire services closed off the area. Their injuries are deemed non life-threatening.
Reports suggest the substance was thrown from a van.
No arrests have been made at this stage, as enquiries continue.
