Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old in West Norwood will return to the scene today to encourage witnesses to come forward.

From 4pm, officers will be handing out leaflets in the hope of tracing anyone with information about the events leading up to Ramane Wiggan's murder a week ago.

Mr Wiggan was found by paramedics in a critical condition in Friar Mews, West Norwood, at around 4.10pm on Wednesday suffering from a gunshot wound.

Ramane, who lived in Tulse Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene just half an hour later.

A post-mortem examination at Greenwich Mortuary on Friday found the provisional cause of death to be a gunshot wound.

Two 17-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Both have been bailed until late April, as enquiries continue.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command lead the investigation and are keeping an open mind about the motive behind Ramane’s murder.

The events leading up to the incident are unclear at this stage, but a male was seen fleeing the area on foot towards Canterbury Grove immediately after gunshots were heard.

He is thought to have been wearing dark clothing, with his head covered.

Detective Chief Inspector John Massey said: “Our investigation continues and as part of that we will be returning to the scene today in the hope of encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

“We are really keen to hear from witnesses or anyone who can help - please approach an officer at the scene today or call us at the incident room or via Crimestoppers.

“Drivers may have vital dash cam footage that captured the events of last week and we would urge them to also please come forward if they were in the area at the time.”

Any witnesses and those with information should call the Homicide and Major Crime Command Incident Room on 020 8721 4868 or 101, quoting CAD 5335.
