A man has been arrested a week after the body of Richmond woman Laureline Garcia-Bertaux was found in a shallow grave.

During the late evening of Wednesday, March 6, police located the French national's body in a garden in Darell Road, Kew.

A post-mortem has since confirmed the 34-year-old filmmaker had been strangled.

Just before 12.30pm today (March 13), a 32-year-old man was arrested in Estonia on suspicion of the murder of Laureline.

The suspect was detained at an address in Tallinn and is being held in an Estonian Police Station prior to extradition proceedings commencing.

He was arrested after the Metropolitan Police Service Homicide and Major Crime Command, in conjunction with the Crown Prosecution Service, issued an European Arrest Warrant (EAW).

Met homicide detectives have been working with Eurojust in the Hague and police colleagues in Europol to trace and detain the man sought in connection with the investigation.

A murder investigation led by Detectives from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command continues.
