Residents are being invited to have their say on a new sculpture that is being proposed for Moormead Park in St Margarets.

The sculpture is to be created from the stump of a tree which was felled in 2018, after its condition had declined beyond being able to recover naturally.

It will take the shape of a man carving himself out of the tree stem and will incorporate a QR barcode which will play music when scanned.

The sculpture, carved by Derek Pearce, is representative of the ‘self-made’ man and a miniature of the proposed sculpture will be displayed in the Civic Centre, York Street, Twickenham throughout March.

Cllr Martin Elengorn, Cabinet Member for Environment, Planning and Sustainability said: “Sadly, this tree had to be felled so it is good that we have been able to preserve part of its stump as a sculpture in Moormead Park. If you think this project should go ahead please do take part in the consultation.”

The consultation closes on March 31. Have your say by visiting https://haveyoursay.citizenspace.com/richmondecs/moormead-park/consult_view/
