An area of Waterloo Station this afternoon was sealed off after reports an evacuation following a "suspicious package" being found.

The incident came after a number of other "security alerts" were reported today (March 3) at Heathrow Airport's operations centre and at London City Airport.

British Transport Police confirmed it has deployed specialist officers to the scene, where an area has been cordoned off.

A tweet from the official Heathrow Airport account earlier confirmed an "incident at a building near the airport boundary" which led to staff being evacuated.

Flights were not affected by the incident and it is believed the operations centre was the evacuated building.

The Woolwich DLR and other routes into London City Airport were also suspended earlier today, but have since started to run again.

More information as we get it.
