A 450-year-old Richmond pub has been give a new lease of life by the new landlords, after an unsettling period.

The Angel & Crown Pub in Church Court was revived this week by landlord Nick Botting, who has "breathed new life into the beautiful old pub".

The pub is located on a cobbled alley in the heart of Richmond and the revived hotspot is complete with a new Head Chef, full refurbishment and new menu.

Over the last few years, the pub has been unsettled with different owners and trouble with noise and anti-social behaviour.

Nick is determined to restore calm and order, with the appointment of a new head chef in the form of Georgio Bassani.

Georgio is an award-winning, seasoned pub chef, who picked up the prestigious Good Food Award during his time at the Hampton pub.

Nick has restored the Fuller’s pub with vintage prints of Kew Gardens flowers and muted colours on the walls, a lovely private dining room, "snug" at the back complete with real fire, and some fantastic menus for lunch, supper, stand-up parties and of course – Sunday lunch, always popular with the local rugby crowd.

Food is traditional pub food re-created for a modern diner – dishes such as Cumberland Sausage Sandwich with caramelised red onion; Lentil, Spinach & Gorgonzola Wellington; Macaroni Cheese with Bacon & Truffle.

Nick, South African by birth, is no stranger to running pubs. He has been working in them since he was a youngster, washing dishes and soaking up the atmosphere.

He came to settle in the UK when he was 21 and worked at all sorts of venues such as TGI Fridays and The Roadhouse before moving to Cornwall and opening his own restaurant.

Nick missed his beloved London, so returned to run the popular Coach & Horses in Kew, turning it into a huge success.

Fast forward to now, and Nick is ready to take on the challenge of bringing all the Angel & Crown’s potential to life.

The Angel & Crown is open for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week.
