The mum of a 14-year-old boy says her son was left "petrified" after he was threatened with being stabbed while being robbed by a gang of teenagers.

The boy was with a friend on Friday evening (February 15) when they were followed from Cutty Sark DLR station to McDonald’s.

A "hooded gang" approached them once they left the McDonald's in Crescent Arcade just before 8.30pm.

One of the mums told News Shopper: "One put his arm around my son’s neck and walked with him one way and they told my son’s mate to walk with the other two boys the other way.

"They said they would stab him if he didn’t walk. He’s just 14 and he was petrified."

The boy had his expensive Stone Island coat and money taken from him.

According to the mum, around four or five youths targeted the boys and both victims were forced to give up possessions.

The mum, who didn’t want to be identified, contacted the police about the robbery.

A spokesman for the Met Police said they arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of robbery before he was released under investigation.

He added: "The 14-year-old victim was approached by a group of teenaged males and was robbed of his jacket. One of the suspects intimated that he had a knife."

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Greenwich CID on 101 quoting CR3603761/19.
