Severe travel disruption continues after a multi-vehicle collision on the M25 near Leatherhead this morning (January 28).

Highways England announced it had closed two of the five lanes between junctions 9 and 10 on the section of the motorway near to Leatherhead as recovery operations took place during the morning commute.

Motorway cameras controlled by the highways authority showed the damaged sustained to several of the vehicles effected.

In a statement released on Twitter, Highways England said: "M25 anti-clockwise we have 2 lanes closed between J10 and J9 following a multiple vehicle collision. 30-minute delays on the approach. Please allow plenty of extra time."

They added that the collision is believed to have involved six vehicles in total.

As such, heavy delays stalled traffic on the affected area of the M25 throughout the morning.

Regarding the delays, Highways England said the traffic jams were: "...expected to clear between 12:30pm and 12:45pm."

No information about possible injuries has yet emerged, Surrey Police has been contacted for comment.
