Police have arrested a 33 year-old man after a teenager reported she was raped in Memorial Gardens in Kingston on New Year’s Day.
The man has been released under investigation for the alleged rape of a 19 year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Police say the sex attack is believed to have taken place at around 2.30am on January 1 in Memorial Gardens on Clarence Street.
The victim is being supported by trained police officers while the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences command investigate.
Local residents took to social media to report heavy police presence around Church Street past 6pm on Tuesday, including a forensics team collecting evidence.
