A festive feast of cold Christmas pudding and Toblerone provided a seasonal energy boost for Jeremy Reynolds from Teddington, who is attempting to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic.
Jeremy, 41, is part of Heads Together and Row, a team of four taking part in this year’s Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. They are raising funds and awareness for mental health charities, and are also the focus of research into individual and team resilience, led by academics from Henley Business School.
The team set off from the Canary Islands on Wednesday 12 December and are heading for Antigua. They are aiming to break the world record for the fastest mixed-four crossing from east to west, which currently stands at 56 days.
During their time at sea so far, they have been joined by wildlife including whales, dolphins and a bird they’ve nicknamed Betty. But they have also experienced some of the many challenges that come with rowing a small boat across an ocean, including 10-foot waves, seasickness and strong winds.
