A councillor in Richmond Borough has been welcomed into Liberal Judaism at a synagogue in Kingston.

Andree Frieze, Green Party Councillor for Ham, Petersham and Riverside was joined by her husband, Shimon and two sons, Natan and Guy at an admissions ceremony at Kingston Liberal Synagogue.

The family have been active members of KLS since 2012, when they joined the community. Both her sons had the Bar Mitzvahs at the Synagogue. The ceremony was conducted by Rabbi Charley Baginsky, KLS's former Rabbi.

Andree said: "Ultimately, it’s [converting to Judaism] because I feel Jewish. I want to be Jewish because of the sense of community it gives me, because of the tradition it comes from, because its moral teachings fit with my own. Because it feels like it’s meant to be"
