A new retirement home in Sanderstead has been officially opened by the deputy mayor and mayoress of Croydon.

Councillor Humayun Kabir and Deputy Mayoress Rahena Chowdhury Kabir performed the ceremonial ribbon-cutting at Atwood House, McCarthy and Stone's new development.

Local retirees were among the first to take a closer look at the professionally-styled show complex. They also had the opportunity to find out more about retirement living, and to meet the McCarthy and Stone team.

Visiting the development for the first time, Councillor Humayun Kabir and Deputy Mayoress Rahena Chowdhury Kabir said: “It was an absolute pleasure to mark the official opening of McCarthy and Stone’s new Retirement Living development in Sanderstead, and to meet with homeowners and staff.

"It was great to see first-hand what a fantastic development Atwood House is and the many benefits it will bring to local retirees.”

Kevin Simms, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone, said: “We are very proud of Atwood House and it was our pleasure to showcase this superb new development with such an enjoyable event.

"Everyone had a great time raising a glass to commemorate this important milestone; and the McCarthy and Stone team would like to say thank you to the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress of Croydon for performing the all-important ceremonial duties.”

Prices at Atwood House currently start from £399,950 for a one bedroom apartment, and £507,950 for a two-bedroom apartment.
