Greenwich Theatretrain performing arts school will be dancing for giggles for children across the UK.
On November 3 more than 35 pupils from Greenwich will be raising vital funds for a charitable organisation dedicated to improving the hospital experience of young people across the UK.
Over 4,500 young people from Theatretrain performing arts centres across the country will be taking part in a sponsored danceathon in aid of the Theodora Children’s Charity.
The charity provides 'giggle doctors' to visit poorly children who may be facing prolonged stays in hospitals such as Great Ormond Street.
Over 25 giggle doctors visit 33,000 children across the UK in hospitals, hospices and care homes every year and with the support of Theatretrain they hope to increase the number of visits to 42,000.
Sara Shephard, one of the giggle doctors, said “By combining music, play, magic and storytelling we are able to bring special and magical moments to brave children, often facing very long battles and challenging times.
"The visits often have a lasting impact on the children and equally their family members. It has been noted many times through the feedback we receive that a visit from a giggle doctor can significantly improve a child’s long-term experience of hospital and we are so grateful for the continued support of the young people at Theatretrain.”
The Danceathon will go live on Facebook on the 3rd of November and people can follow Theatretrain and donate through their facebook page.
