A Brockley resident has gifted the people of Plumstead with a new mural, and there is a hidden meaning behind it.
Lionel Stanhope grew up in Kingston but got into street art in his teens, he is now painting murals, funded by south east London communities and National Rail.
After being arrested for his graffiti art, he decided to become a signwriter and move to Brockley, where he started painting scenery.
He has now gone on to paint a mural at Plumstead Station that points towards the high street.
Lionel told News Shopper that a resident suggested “to the high street” to give a boost to local businesses.
Greenwich council has now publicly thanked National Rail and Lionel for all his hard work.
They said: “Thanks to @networkrail for paying for this nice new welcome sign outside the railway station supporting local businesses by signposting people to the High Street.”
