Plans for a new Richmond park café are set to proceed, following positive feedback from a public consultation.
In addition to a café, the Buccleuch Gardens development will offer improved toilet facilities and add a new terraced seating area.
A consultation carried out earlier this year proposing to refurbish the disused toilet block and reconfigure the existing buildings received positive responses from nearly 90% of locals who took part.
Cllr Martin Elengorn, Cabinet Member for Environment, Planning and Sustainability said: “I am pleased that people are positive about this proposal.
“A new small café will bring new life to the park and encourage more people to enjoy the gardens and stay a little longer.”
A small number of respondents raised some comments around litter, bike racks and drinking fountains.
This council will consider this feedback moving forward with the development over the next few months.
The new facilities will be funded from money secured through the Star and Garter development under a legal agreement which was a prerequisite for planning permission.
The new café would be subject to planning permission for change of use.
