Police have launched their 100th murder investigation this following the death of a 73-year-old women at her home in Teddington.

Officers were called to reports of a fire at the property, in Mays Road, shortly before 1am on August 22.

A 73-year-old woman was found dead inside the address and, while formal identification is yet to be completed, she has been named by Scotland Yard as Carole Harrison.

Tests are yet to establish a cause of death, following a post-mortem examination held at Kingston Mortuary, but she was found to have injuries consistent with an assault.

No arrests have been made while enquiries are underway, a Met Police spokesman added.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard said: “At this stage, we are appealing to anyone who saw Mrs Harrison on the day leading up to the fire.

“In particular we want to hear from anyone who may have seen her out and about and most particularly if she had anyone with her. Anyone with information should call police immediately."
