Businesses from across the area gathered at a forum at the House of Lords, last week.

The forum provided clarity on Brexit and more thank 55 businesses attended the event, which was hosted by The Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

The event was also attended by Cllr Gareth Roberts, Cllr Heather Acton and Cllr Jane Palmer. Former Richmond Park MP, Baroness Susan Kramer answered several questions on Brexit.

Anne Newton Chief Executive of the Chamber said: "Confidence is key to doing business in the Richmond Borough area, domestically and overseas. Businesses and sponsors gathered at an independent Chamber forum discussion chaired by Sky News at The House of Lords and businesses underlined their need for clarity on Brexit from Number 10, the Government, MPs and Peers.

"The discussions were supported by peers and MPs from across the political spectrum and there is huge appetite from businesses, media, MPs and peers to follow-up with a future event."

"Business concerns aired included: barriers to international trade and high costs associated with entering new markets; employment; supply chains leaving UK shores; Irish border solution; reduced and delayed investment decisions.

"Opportunities following Brexit included: increasing trade with Commonwealth and non EU trading markets such as US, Australasia, China, Far East and India; politicians to negotiate attractive EU trading conditions; attracting skilled and non skilled labour as required from overseas and upskilling the labour force; and encouraging business to invest with business friendly Government, Parliament and Lords that all listen to business."
