The moment a group of moped riders tried to rob a mother and her child has been caught on camera.
The video shows four men on a black moped and motorbike pull up to the side of Sandpits Road in Petersham.
The men then linger around for roughly a minute, waiting for the victim to walk by.
Two of the moped riders then approach the woman and, according to police, demand her jewellery.
The mother was able to grab her child and run away before the men walked away.
A spokesman for the police said they are now investigating the attempted robbery.

"They threatened her and a young child who was with her.
"No injuries were reported and no weapon was seen, although it was intimated.
"Members of the public went to the woman's assistance and the suspects fled empty-handed."
