This weekend sees the return of North Finchley Festival, featuring more than 50 live bands at six different venues. The two-day events is promising an eclectic mix of music with just about every genre of music represented.

The headline act is Lee Thompson with The Silencerz on Sunday at the Bohemia. The False Dots are the main support, featuring Roger Tichborne, founder of the Save London Music Campaign which seeks to protect London music venues and studios. For a touch of jazz funk, Kado will be appearing at the Elephant Inn.

Roger says: “The Grassroots music scene has seen a real resurgence in London over the last couple of years. I have seen some of the most amazing gigs at small venues over the last couple of years. As a member of the False Dots, I’ve played a fair few gigs and we’ve seen audiences at some of the recent shows that I’ve not seen since the heady days of the 1980’s.

“When The False Dots played the Midland Arms in Hendon earlier in the year, the pub was absolutely rammed. A couple of weeks ago, I was at The Five Bells in Finchley for Those Naughty Lumps and The Nice Men. The pub was rammed full and rocking. One swallow may not make a spring, but there is definitely something going on.”

The smaller venues such as Cafe Buzz and M’s place have some great artists who you can enjoy over lunch or an early tea, with coffee and cakes or a beer. The pub venues will be rocking into the night.
