The Glades shopping centre in Bromley will offer free drinking water to all customers and visitors in a new campaign to reduce plastic use.
All 24 restaurants and cafes have pledged their support just in time for World Water Day on March 22.
From April, the centre will also be giving away hundreds of reusable branded aluminium bottles to its shoppers.
Kate Miller, general manager of The Glades, explained that sustainability was high on its agenda and it was committed to working closely with the public to help drive messages forward.
She said: “We are passionate about being part of the change and one of the first steps we’re taking is to check that tap water in our toilet facilities is drinkable.”
This is in response to the national scheme to dramatically reduce the amount of plastic we are throwing away.
Theresa May wants to eradicate all avoidable plastic waste in the UK by 2042.
Last week it was announced a pilot programme called Refill London is being rolled out, with the centres of Greenwich and Lewisham two of the first spots where the scheme will be implemented.
Participating shops and businesses, which include cafes like Costa Coffee, will display a 'refill' sticker in their windows to let people know they are offering free tap water.
