Children at a Twickenham primary school were thrilled to try out their new adventure playground today.

Partly thanks to the fundraising efforts of parents, children at Twickenham Primary Academy can now run, jump and climb across the ten-metre, hand-made adventure playground.

Sir Vince Cable, who will formally open the playground tomorrow (January 12), said: “I am delighted that the School is progressing well and has such strong parental backing.

“The addition of the adventure playground is a recognition that children need, and will get, a rounded experience at school.”

The school in Colne Road is now in its third year and has two-form entry – two classes in every year group.

Its active PTA supported the development of the new play facilities with activities throughout the year to raise funds.

Principal John Smith said: “This is a wonderful addition for the children and we are all very excited to have this structure as part of our play provision.

“As a growing school, we have a unique opportunity to develop all aspects of school life for the first time, and we hope our excellent learning facilities will encourage prospective parents to visit us and find out more about the school.”

The deadline for school applications in Richmond is January 15.
