Crayford town centre has been shut down after a car crashed outside the Sainsbury's while it was being chased by police.
Police started chasing the car through Crayford today (November 12) around 11.30 because the driver did not stop when they were flagged down.
Met Police said officers started the chase because they believed the car had been involved in a number of thefts.
The car was chased through Crayford until it reached the corner of Crayford Road and Roman Way.
Witnesses said they saw a car driving the wrong way through the one-way system before the crash.
Naoise Standing wrote on Facebook: "Avoid Crayford, Bexleyheath, anywhere near that area. Some idiot has driven the wrong way round the one way system in Crayford and crashed into about three cars."
Christine Panter wrote: "We were driving around when he came flying past with police chasing we were very lucky it must of happened just after passing us."
One man has been arrested and is being held in custody at a south London police station.
Officers remain at the scene and Met Police told drivers to avoid Crayford town centre as road closures are still in place.
