Sutton United assistant boss Micky Stephens reckons both Dan Wishart and Nicky Bailey will be available for selection this weekend.

The influential duo were withdrawn in the second half of United’s 2-0 National League win over Torquay United last night, leaving fans fearing the worst.

However, Stephens revealed the move was more precautionary than reactionary.

“Dan had a little bit of a hamstring strain – it’s not a tear or pull – and we thought it might be better if he stepped out and rested it,” he said.

“I am not sure of the exact damage, but it does not look serious, and it’s the same with Nicky, he felt a little tug.”

He added: “We’re having to get used to long trips and intense games of football - the intensity is different and much higher than in National League South.

“The boys have played at full tilt including mid-week since the start of the season.

“But everyone seems ok and I cannot imagine there will be many who want to sit out this weekend [against Macclesfield].”
