More than 100 people were evacuated from an “incredibly fierce” fire above an Asda in Feltham yesterday.
The fire badly damages a five-room flat on the third floor and one woman was taken to safety down a staircase by crews wearing breathing apparatus and was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.
The fire brigade took about 20 emergency calls from 9.20am and six fire engines from Twickenham, Feltham, Heston, Hillingdon and Southall attended.
Station Manager Lucy Macleod who was at the scene said: “When they arrived our crews were faced with an incredibly fierce, hot fire but they worked extremely hard to contain it to the flat where it started.”
The fire was under control by 10.17am and its cause is under investigation.
