Clapham Common and Colliers Wood are two of the most at-risk tube stations for flood risk, a new report has revealed.
The report, commissioned after Hurricane Sandy flooded the New York City subway in 2012, found it was ‘only a matter of time’ before one of the 85 most at-risk stations is affected, the Guardian reported.
The Northern Line, which runs through Wandsworth and Merton, had the highest number of stations identified as at-risk.
Colliers Wood made the top ten, while Clapham Common is a ‘high’ flood-risk station.
Clapham South, Tooting Bec, Tooting Broadway, South Wimbledon and Morden also made the list.
Flooding in tube stations would not only pose a risk to commuter safety, the report said, but result in multi-million pound losses.
