The defection of a Liberal Democrat councillor to Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party has sparked debate over whether a byelection should be held in Teddington.
She cited the election of Jeremy Corbyn as leader and Tim Farron being "worse than Nick Clegg" as her reasons for leaving Lib Dems.
The move has sparked calls for a byelection to be held to allow the councillor, dubbed 'Red Jen', to be elected with a Labour mandate.
Deputy leader of the council Councillor Geoffrey Samuel, a Conservative who once defected FROM Labour, said he "would not push for a byelection" to be held in Teddington.
