An independent bakery has risen to the challenge in 2015 by expanding to East Sheen.
The Cavan Bakery, which already has five stores in Hampton, Hampton Hill and Teddington, marked the opening of its new Sheen Lane premises by giving out 500 mini loaves this morning.
The bakery was founded in 1929 by David Cavan and recently underwent a facelift to give off a “boutique bakery” feel.
Suze Drew, commercial manager at The Cavan Bakery, said: “The village feel and atmosphere of East Sheen is perfect for an independent business like ours.
“We need local customers who appreciate good food and friendly service, who enjoy the experience of shopping locally and who we can get to know and remember their favourite lunchtime sandwich or coffee preferences.”
The new Cavan Bakery is now open at 51 Sheen Lane.
