Esher and Walton MP Ian Taylor was a special guest at the 4th Thames Ditton Ajax Sea Scouts honorary inspection by the Royal Navy on Thursday.

They are one of only 100 sea scout groups in the country to be given official recognition by the Royal Navy.

Inspection Officer Lieutenant Commander Nick Ellis, from the Directorate of Naval Reserves in Portsmouth, watched as 30 scouts aged six to 20 demonstrated different skills they have acquired, such as first aid.

Thames Ditton Ajax Sea Scout Leader Adrian Sancroft said: "It's extremely important to scouting and to the boys themselves that we have Royal Navy recognition for our high standards in scouting activities."
