A man in his 20s was assaulted after an argument with his friend got out of hand when two men and a woman intervened.

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Walton in the early hours of Saturday, August 24.

The incident occurred in Ashley Park Road between about 12.20am and 12.45am.

The victim had been having an argument with a friend when two men and a woman intervened, with one of the men allegedly making disparaging comments about the victim.

The same man and the woman are then reported to have punched the victim, causing minor injuries.

The group of two men and a woman are believed to have left the scene in a black old style Ford Ka.

The man who punched the victim was a white man, about 5ft 8in, of average build, with short, dark hair and a goatee beard.

He was wearing a blue T-shirt or polo shirt and blue jeans. The woman was white, slim, with long, dark hair tied in a ponytail. She was wearing a dark, strappy top and had a stud piercing to the top right of her lip.

Police constable Sam Freedman, investigating, said: "This was reportedly an unprovoked attack on a man by two people unknown to him. I would urge both those involved or any independent witnesses to come forward to assist us in establishing the circumstances of this incident.”
