An all-female cast perform Henry V in a production aiming to challenge preconceptions of Shakespeare’s most epic tale.
The play, which opened at the church yesterda, April 25, features performers from Kew’s amateur theatre group, the Q2 players.
It follows the new King Henry as he prepares to do battle in France, where he hopes to add the French crown to his English one, and to seal his victory by marrying the French king’s daughter.
Shakespeare director Gerald Baker has prepared a version of the script for Q2 Players to produce what is traditionally seen as a gung-ho epic as an intimate chamber play.
