A metal detector was placed outside Twickenham station last week following a street fight.

Police put up the screening arch as part of a proactive operation and to provide reassurance after the incident.

Although no weapons were detected, police are planning further operations in the future.

Police broke up a fight in Court Way at about 4.20pm on March 25, and found two men, one 17 and one 18, with stab wounds.

A college spokesman said the incident involved two groups of young men who were not from the college, although one of the injured men was a college student, who was making his way home.

The college student returned to college the following day.

A spokesman for Twickenham police said: “Officers from Richmond and Twickenham investigate and retain an open mind as to the motive at this stage.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the attack should call Richmond CID on 020 8247 7209 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

No arrests have been made.
