A kind-hearted shopper made an anonymous donation of £100 after a charity collection box was swiped from a shop counter.

The tin, full of money for Teddington Memorial Hospital, went missing from the Card Collection in High Street, Teddington, on Monday, February 4.

On hearing about the loss of funds a good Samaritan dropped off an envelope containing five £20 notes on Friday, February 15.

Julia Beswick, owner of the Card Collection, handed the anonymous donation to Pamela Bryant from Teddington Hospital League of Friends, to be put to good use.

Mrs Bryant said: “We greatly appreciate the thoughtful generosity of the person who has anonymously donated £100 to the Card Collection following the theft of a collecting box in the shop belonging to the League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital.

“We thank Card Collection for their support in collecting for us in this way together with all other shops, local businesses pubs or clubs.”

In the past, money collected from the group’s charity boxes have funded 50 bedside lockers, two patient hoists with digital weighing and a fish tank in the waiting area of the hospital.
