Heather Blanche Beagley (101), of Richmond Surrey, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Margaret House Care Home (Ware) on 28th February 2023. Heather, born in 1922, grew up in Bristol, was the first woman in her family to go to university and became Head of English at Hove Grammar school. She continued voluntary teaching until retirement except on Mondays when she liked to play golf! At the age of 20 she married Thomas Lorne Beagley and they lived very happily together in Barnes and East Sheen for 58 years. They were posted to Paris and then Singapore for several years and travelled very widely. Heather led a very long and active life. She worked as a volunteer for Oxfam for 20 years and was interested in the Arts, playing bridge and going on innumerable holidays! She felt very fortunate to have had so many good friends. She is survived by her 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A memorial celebration will be held at 2pm Tuesday 18th April at Christ Church East Sheen. Heather requested no flowers but please make charitable donations to the Macmillan Trust or Cancer Research.
