Expert horsemen in shining armour will battle in medival-style jousts in Wimbledon.

The Knights of Middle England will compete in front on an expected crowd of more than 35,000 at Wimbledon Guild Village Fair on Saturday, June 18.

Raising funds for the social welfare charity Wimbledon Guild, this year’s fair on Wimbledon Common will feature two food villages, a farmer’s market, a shopping zone with more than 200 stalls, live music on the main stage and a jazz tent.

Wimbledon Guild’s head of fundraising Fiona Healey-Hutchinson said: “The Knights of Middle England jousting displays are fast, furious and fabulous displays of horsemanship.

“We can't wait to see them in action. We’ll even be selling toy swords and shields so that children can become mini-knights for the day and cheer on their favourite competitors.”

Activities include a climbing wall, laser tag, water zorbing and a soft play area while sports fans can have a go at rugby, football and tennis.

For animal lovers, there is the Waggy Wimbledon dog show and dog games, and the chance to meet birds of prey and small animals from Deen City Farm.

This year, Wimbledon Guild is offering families the chance to buy Fair Golden Tickets online to get a six-for-the-price-of-five offer on children’s attractions.
