A giant art studio complex could show the next big names in the art world when it opens its doors to the public for a festival-style exhibition today.

Wimbledon Art Studios repeatedly draws thousands of visitors to its twice-yearly open studios events.

But open studios co-ordinator Julie Proctor thinks this year could attract record numbers now a series of interactive art workshops, pop-up food vans and live music have been added to the agenda.

There is free entry to the event, which will exhibit the work of 150 artists including the Private Eye cartoonist Rob Murray and Mackie - described by Proctor as "probably the most up-and-coming artist of the moment".

Visitors will be able to buy art directly from the artists, and meet them in their own studios.

The art studios, which are tucked away in Riverside Yard, near the Plough Lane business warehouses in Wimbledon, have previously sold works to Madonna.

This Spring's show will be launched tonight by celebrity cook Ainsley Harriott , with a prosecco bar and gourmet cafe open on the preview night.

Vivienne Westwood staff will be on hand to assist five fashion designers from the Studios as they present their Spring-Summer collections in a fashion show at 7.30pm tomorrow.

Saturday and Sunday are dedicated family days, with a series of craft workshops and food from The Flying Ducks American vintage vans, selling their award-winning fish finger baps and Knickerbocker glories.
