Their last major exhibition - looking at Kingston's involvement in the First World War - was a huge hit, and this one looks set to follow in the same vein.

Kingston Museum has teamed up with Kingston University to display a huge amount of work by painter Harry Weinberger.

It also includes a cache of letters to Weinberger from novelist Iris Murdoch, who was given an honorary degree by the university in 1994.

Exhibition officer Tove Bellingham says: "It's a large collection of paintings and it's filled our art gallery to the brim.

"They're so vibrant and passionate and strong.

"I think it's exciting how they sort of fed off each other, spurred each other on and inspired each other."
