SUFFICIENCY OF SPECIALIST SCHOOL PLACES - GRANARD SCHOOL, SWAFFIELD SCHOOL AND GARRATT PARK SCHOOLNotice ID: SUT2193079
WANDSWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL
SUFFICIENCY OF SPECIALIST SCHOOL PLACES - GRANARD SCHOOL, SWAFFIELD SCHOOL AND GARRATT PARK SCHOOL
Notice is given in accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that from 1st April 2022 Wandsworth Borough Council intends to make prescribed alterations to:
- Granard Community Primary School, Cortis Road, London, SW15 6XA;
- Swaffield Community Primary School, St. Ann's Hill, London, SW18 2SA;
- Garratt Park Community Special School, Waldron Road, London, SW18 3TB.
It is proposed to open a resource base at Granard School for up to 42 pupils in Reception to Year 6, with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) associated with Learning Difficulties (LD) and / or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
It is proposed to open a resource base at Swaffield School for up to 16 pupils in Reception to Year 6, with ASD/SEMH/anxiety or any combination of these needs.
It is proposed to increase the capacity at Garratt Park School, so it is closer aligned with pupil roll and commissioned places. It is currently approved to offer 178 places to pupils aged from 11 to 19 years with Moderate Learning Difficulties in association with an ASD and / or other additional needs. It is proposed to increase the capacity to 210 places.
The 78% increase in Wandsworth children with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) over the past 5 years has placed significant pressure on local specialist provision resulting in the need for out of area placements for specific cohorts of children. The proposals in this Notice will address some of the provision gaps, as well as ensuring that existing specialist provision is compliant and operating within their approved capacity. In addition, the Governing Board of Saint John Bosco College is publishing proposals to make prescribed alternations to expand places at their Savio and Devereux resource bases; and the Burntwood Multi Academy
Trust is publishing proposals to open a resource base for girls with SEMH needs.
