ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1) ST JOHN'S HILL BRIDGE

1. The Council of the London Borough of Wandsworth HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate bridge maintenance works they have made a Temporary Traffic Order the effect of which will be to introduce temporary restrictions as set out in paragraph 2 below.



2. Whilst the Order remains in force,



(a) no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in St John's Hill between its junctions with Brighton Yard and Plough Road;



(b) the banned right turn from Lavender Hill into Falcon Road shall be suspended;



(c) no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in Grant Road between its junctions with Plough Road and Winstanley Road other than in a direction from south-west to north-east;



(d) no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in Grant Road between its junctions with Plough Road and Winstanley Road other than in a direction from north-east to south-west;



(e) no person causing any vehicle proceeding in a westerly direction in Battersea Rise shall cause that vehicle to right into Boutflower Road;



(f) no person causing any vehicle proceeding in a westerly direction in Battersea Rise shall cause that vehicle to right into Bolingbroke Grove; and



(g) no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed, wait or stand in St Johns Hill between its junctions with Plough Road and Falcon Road.



NB, the oneway working described on Paragraph 2(c) and 2 (d) will be required to suit working programming and circumstances and will be in force at such times and to such an extent as indicated by signs. The closure in Paragraph 2(g) will be required for resurfacing works, after the maintenance works to the bridge have been completed.

3. The Order shall come into effect on 28 June 2021 and shall remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months.



4. Signed alternative routes for vehicles affected by the closures will be available in adjacent streets



5. The temporary road closure will only apply at such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by the placing of traffic signs. The works are expected to be completed within three months.



6. Nothing in the Notice applies to:



(a) any vehicle approved by the Council.



(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a civil enforcement officer; or



(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes.



7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
