Two local children’s day nurseries just four miles apart are celebrating the completion of over £100,000 worth of refurbishment work with special Open Day events this weekend (Saturday Sep 15) At Queens’ Road-based Richmond Day Nursery children will be banging the drum for the new-look nursery premises as part of an exclusive ‘Tribal Fusion Showcase’ day which includes tribal dancing, drumming and face-painting plus storytelling in a brand new garden tipi.

Said Kayleigh Rennix, assistant manager: “Our Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated nursery has undergone a paint refresh inside, and we now have a new toddler room floor and a new kitchen and staff room. Outside we have great new garden areas where the children will grow flowers and plants – and we now even have a special stage area where they can put on short plays.”

Meanwhile, a few miles away at Cedar Road-based Teddington Day Nursery the staff and children are getting ready for their Open Day event too.

Said manager Sarah Humphrys: “Our just completed refurbishment has given the nursery a fresh new look. Now we have state-of-the-art wooden furniture, a touch screen table in a new classroom area and we are trialling iPads too. We will be running a traditional fete family day including a special family quiz event - and all local parents are invited to come and take a look and join in the fun of the day’s activities.”

Both nurseries are part of the nationwide Asquith Day Nurseries group and both Open Days start at 10am and end at 1pm on Saturday Sep 15.
