Music comes to the Market Local musicians will be making September’s Kew Village Market on 2 September go with a swing.

First up is quartet High Standards playing jazz standards with panache and polish. Clarinettist Howard Fletcher says that they are new group of accomplished musicians who got together to enjoy playing the hits of the 1940s and 1950s. He says “If audiences leave saying “I had forgotten how wonderful these tunes were ....’, then we will have succeeded!” They have two sets at 10.30 and 12.30pm.

Sandwiched between them are Lila Chrisp and Ellie Pryde. They are six form students at local schools, but who have been playing clarinet together since they were aged six and are now regulars in the Thames Valley Youth Orchestra. They will be offering an infectious range of music either written or transcribed for wind instruments. The duo was discovered busking at Kew Gardens by a member of the Market committee and booked immediately. They are that good!

The musicians will be playing near Kew Gardens station between about 10.30am and 1.30pm.
