Calling all Apple, Pear and any other Fruit-Shaped Women!

By Community Correspondent - Rachel Thompson

The fashion industry is so quick to label body-shapes but what does an apple-shaped woman look like? Apple-shaped women tend to be contoured on the top half of the body and angular on the bottom half of the body. The overall shape is round and the stomach is bigger than the bust. If you suspect you are apple-shaped it is important to minimise the stomach, which is possible if you follow some styling tips. For example, avoid clothes that will add bulk or draw attention to the area, such as belts and instead draw attention to your assets.

Pear-shaped women are the reverse of the apple-shaped women. These women have an angular top half of the body and a contoured bottom half of the body. The width of the hips is much larger than the width of the shoulders. It is important for pear-shaped women to try and create a balance between the hips and shoulders, for example by wearing wide v-neck tops that emphasis the shoulders.

Whatever body shape you are, it is important to accentuate your assets and minimise your imperfections, by wearing clothes and colours that flatter you.
