Residents at a care home in Richmond welcomed local people for a summer garden party to celebrate Care Home Open Day and were joined by a special guest.

To celebrate the open day, Greville House organised an Alice in Wonderland themed summer garden party were residents and visitors were treated to a delicious selection of tasty snacks and enjoyed musical entertainment, sing-alongs and dancing.

Greville House on Greville Road was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.

Vivian Epie, home manager at Greville House, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day is a particular highlight each year as it is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our home and celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.

“This year’s event was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building our links within the local community. We hope that all our visitors enjoyed themselves as much as we did and look forward to welcoming them back to the home for events in the future.”

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Greville House were also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s latest guide, A Helping Hand, which can also be downloaded from careuk.com/helpinghand.
