"Hampton - fire at care home. Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a residential care home in Bramble Lane, Hampton in the early hours of this morning.
Part of the ground floor and part of the external soffit were damaged by fire. An adjoining bin store was completely damaged by fire.

Approximately 33 people were evacuated from the property as a precaution by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.

The Brigade was called at 0107 and the fire was under control at 0317. Fire crews from Twickenham, Feltham and Heston fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation"

I am a local resident living next to this building and was woken by shouting and banging at about 0110. I saw the flames and went down to see if I could help.

LFB arrived about 4 minutes later. They started to evacuate the residents of Marling Court Residential who mostly have some form of dementia.

They were just going to sit them in the square, but they waere all in their night clothes. I went over to the local pub, The Hampton, who then gave them all shelter.

We helped move the residents over there while the LFB, police and ambulance dealt with the building. All were moved safely with no injuries. They were let back into the building at around 4-5 am.

A number of local residents suggest it was kids/youths that had started the fire in the rear bin area which has caused quite significant external damage to parts of the building.
