An open letter has been sent to Dr Tania Mathias via Change.org representing a majority view from graduates of the Royal Military School of Music founded in 1857:

'Dear Doctor Mathias You may have read about the plans for the Army to move out of Kneller Hall and for the land to be sold for development.

If this should happen, the future of the Army Music Museum is under threat.  I put it to you that it is important that this historic collection be kept together, to keep the footprint of the British Armed Forces, and the traditions of Kneller Hall where the Royal Military School of Music has reigned, with only the short interruption 1940-1945,  when Southern Command took over, since 1857.

The future location of it, the Kneller Hall Museum, is subject to negotiation between the Royal Marines and Royal Air Force, as from 2018 there will be a Tri-Service Defence School of Music at the Defence School of Logistics and Policing at Worthy Down Barracks, near Winchester, Hampshire.

It would make sense, would it not, were the MOD to only sell the land of the Kneller Hall Site, for the 192 housing unit development already proposed by Mark Lancaster MP, but keep the Grade 2 listed building as The Defence Music Museum?

I am seeking signatures for this petition and your representations in any forthcoming debates on this issue.

"Save Kneller Hall"

Yours sincerely John Carter'
